chroot instructions

...for amd64 don't work.  debootstrap doesn't seem to be able to install 
sid.

Is there a work around for this?   I'm pretty much a debian newbie (I've 
run slackware for the last 10 years or so) ... I've searched the 
archives of this list with no success.

Please advise.
