My advice: go for amd64. It meets for 99% my needs (the other 1% can
easily be done with an chroot envirnoment)

Using hardware MPEG encoding, transfer video from VHS, clean up,
remove commercials, and save as DVDs.
Don't know/works with chroot for certain:
listen to realaudio on the internet (e.g. access CBC radio
archives)
watch short video clips (e.b. www.cbc.ca/news)
P.S. Debian amd64 is fastest Linux distro I know and I come from gentoo ;-)
