I'm curious as to whether anyone has experience of software RAID in
Linux giving better overall performance on RAID10 than a RAID card such

Fujitsu SCSI 73GB, Adaptec 2015S zero-channel RAID card.

1. When it comes to disk IO, especially with things like databases, the
disk vendors' information seems fairly solid that it's worth going with
15k rpm disks. What I was reading about was a >10 disk system, so I
don't know if it applies to a 4 disk system. I know you're stuck with
what you have, but if you get a chance sometime to spec a system, keep
this in mind.

2. I my testing I got slightly better performance stacking Linux raid1
and raid0 than just using the raid10 driver. I believe this was with
similar disks, but ten instead of four.
