cpufreq won't work on any K8 cpu that I have. I've tested multiple machines (details below). I used modprobe to load cpufreq_ondemand, cpufreq_stats, and freq_table, but there's no /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu?/cpufreq/ dir.
Here are the machines I've tested: single dual-core opteron 175, msi mobo, debian 5.0, amd64 kernel/userspace dual single-core opteron 252, tyan mobo, debian 4.0, amd64 kernel/user single single-core opteron 242, tyan mobo. debian 4.0, i686 kernel/user single single-core athlon64 3200+, msi mobo, debian 5.0, i686 kernel/user All are running the debian kernel, either 2.6.18 or 2.6.26. They all have "power management: ts fid vid ttp" in /proc/cpuinfo, except for the opteron 242 which might not support freq scaling, but all the others do.
