The init script has a setting for the config file to use and this is used by the test_config subroutine.
However, it is not used by the rest of the init script, meaning that if one sets $CONF to a non-default config file, the default config file will be used instead.
This seems to work;
$ENV $SSD --start --pidfile $PIDFILE --exec $DAEMON -- -f $CONF > /dev/null
ie just adding this to the commandline; -- -f $CONF
