Hi again, I think I identified the problem : strangely enough, it seems that my USB hard disk is not detected by udev if it is already on when the slug starts (it is a disk with its own power supply). If I switch the hard disk on after the slug has loaded the ramdisk, the disk is detected and the filesystem is mounted.
