I don't really want to toot our own horn here, but you're comparing a generic Debian compiler - focus on correctness across a dozen ports - with CodeSourcery's tools which are much more heavily focused on ARM. We did a lot of work on that toolchain, and the three major releases since. I would not be surprised it is faster than Debian's. I haven't benchmarked it, though, and I agree with with Riku.
