Hi Guys

Seems i ended up in a bad place, I've tried to upgrade my etch kernel based on the instructions in this mail however i couldn't find

http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
as it doesn't seem to be there anymore

so i downloaded http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-6_arm.deb
instead thinking it would work.

However when i run the dkpg i get the following output

nas:~# dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-6_arm.deb
Selecting previously deselected package linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx.
(Reading database ... 29480 files and directories currently installed.)
Unpacking linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx (from
linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-6_arm.deb) ...
Done.
Setting up linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx (2.6.24-6) ...

Hmm. The package shipped with a symbolic link
/lib/modules/2.6.24-1-ixp4xx/source
However, I can not read the target: No such file or directory
Therefore, I am deleting /lib/modules/2.6.24-1-ixp4xx/source

Running depmod.
Finding valid ramdisk creators.
Using mkinitramfs-kpkg to build the ramdisk.
Running postinst hook script flash-kernel.
*Flashing kernel: devio: stdout: write error: No space left on device
done. <<< - This dosn't look good at all
*Flashing initramfs: done.

I haven't dared to reboot yet as I'm very unsure what is going to happened.

Anyone have any ideas what can be the cause ? I've tried to google it but
havn't been able to dig up something useful yet

Thanks

Mikael

Is anyone successfully using 2.6.24 with etch?

Yes. These are the instructions sent to me by Martin Michlmayer in response
to a bug I had reported against the etch kernel:

  wget
http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/pool/main/l/linux-2.6/linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
  sudo dpkg -i linux-image-2.6.24-1-ixp4xx_2.6.24-4_arm.deb
  sudo reboot

Since then, I've been running 2.6.24-4 without problems on my slug, which
had the standard etch distribution installed.

You asked for 2.6.24-5, don't know about that.

HTH, Richard
