OK, thanks. I've also found https://www.debian.org/ports/arm/ . A naive approach is to attempt installation of debian armel or armhf or arm64 or similar, using using one of the apps, "Linux Deploy" and "Complete Linux Installer". Inadvisable? Feasible?
