Agreed. Not only that, but it's also a rather temporary state of affairs (or should be). So you would be losing users left, right and centre if this were your only audience. But if you really do have something to offer both new and experienced users alike, then it's no longer a "newbie blend". I should think this tension between what your new users want and what your more experienced users want would eventually tear the project apart. I think we all agree that Debian itself should be easier for new users to get into, and so if you can think of ways to make that happen, see what you can contribute, package by package and bug by bug.
