I am not sure if I brought my proposal up already: In my opinion, the best solution here would be to make a clear definition of the task file format and to refer to it in the file. Like it is done for the copyright (just forgot the dep number), including a version. This definition already exists in Andreas' documentation, but it is not more actual anymore (partly my fault: I extended quite some entries for the header without documenting them). Once we have the definition, we could extend * blends-dev to use this format if it is referenced in the task header * webtools to handle this new format * whatever else exists there that uses the tasks files If this is done and tested, people who need it could just use the format. And once it is working flawlessly, we could write wishlist bugs to the remaining blends to switch. And/or just change it in the RCS (most of them are team maintained IMO) -- it should be mostly just an sed script. This should just be started. Holger, since you have the most pressure: would you...? I don't see much sense in blaming anyone for possible mistakes in the past; it would be better just to get it fixed: start with a technical discussion.
