Just for reference, this is what I get on my hppa box.

In early boot:
-console [ttyB0] enabled
+bootconsole [ttyB0] enabled

Later, when serial drivers have been loaded:
 serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A
-console handover: boot [ttyB0] -> real [ttyS0]
+console [ttyS0] enabled, bootconsole disabled
 serial8250: ttyS1 at I/O 0x2f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
