The aptitude log for my i386 chroot had:
[UPGRADE] dosfstools 3.0.7-1 -> 3.0.8-1

Downgrading that solved it. I'll file a BR.

P.S. It really would be great if you could do such basic and simple checks 
yourself next time instead of always leaving it to others to solve 
problems.
