On my Toshiba A300D-14R, with Windows Vista, I have done some test:

/dev/sda1 doesn't contain the Boot/BCD file
/dev/sda2 contain the Boot/BCD file and:

# grep "W.i.n.d.o.w.s. .V.i.s.t.a" sda2/Boot/BCD
Il file binario sda2/Boot/BCD corrisponde

# grep "W.i.n.d.o.w.s. .R.e.c.o.v.e.r.y. .E.n.v.i.r.o.n.m.e.n.t" sda2/Boot/BCD
Il file binario sda2/Boot/BCD corrisponde

both grep return a positive result

/dev/sda3 contain the Boot/BCD file but the two grep doesn't return any result
