Package: installation-reports Severity: normal Hi, I'm having some problems with Debian Squeeze installation. Right after selecting the mirror to download updates, the installation stops for a long time in "Downloading file 1 of 1" (or something like that). When I start the log (Alf+F4) I see lots and lots of "Buffer I/O errors on Device sr0", that is my CD/DVD drive.
I don't know if this is related to drivers, because it's a brand new LG GH22NS40 (SATA), and when I turn on my old CD drive (an Optiarc IDE), the errors happen just one or two times, but the installation continues in less than five seconds. I tried to install Squeeze with 2 ISOs that I have here (different weeks and builds). The errors persisted. QUESTIONS: Is there any report about this? Could it be a driver problem? I am running the OS here right now with the LG GH22NS40. If anyone knows a procedure to "prove" the drive, just tell me and I will do it.
