        All of the folks I've talked to about installing Debian on Compaq 
Proliants recommend booting from CD2.  This boots with the "compact" 
kernel flavor -- a different, trimmed down kernel config. 
Debian/Proliant installs booting from CD2 (I hear) go without a hitch.
