The specific bit from that bug I was thinking of was this message: Both /etc/inittab and /etc/securetty look like they should be set up appropriately by update_console_info() in baseconfig.c. Either this isn't happening, or something later is overwriting the changes. Can someone with a serial console try to reproduce the problem, and see if the files have the correct contents immediately after configuring the base system, and/or if there is any unusual output on the log terminal? In other words, run through the install up to and including "Install the Base System", then go to a shell prompt and inspect those two files by hand to see if they have the right contents. > * The damn thing in the initial install (fdisk, base install) kept going on > about tty4 something like "Bummer, tty4 not found" Right, yeah. I didn't realise when you first mentioned it that these messages would repeat over and over. Can you file a bug on busybox for this one? I don't think there's a whole lot that boot-floppies can easily do to avoid it, given that init is already running by the time dbootstrap gains control. > These bugs sound the same to me. That's what I think too, but I'm at a loss to understand why so few people can reproduce it.
