Package: installation-guide Severity: wishlist I've been recently bitten by an agressive policy about completely lack/drop of support for old hardware (aka «programmed obsolescence») by both, Almalinux and LibreOffice projects.
That situation directed me to this document¹ («Building Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 for the x86-64-v2 microarchitecture level») which I find it could useful to be ported/adapted into Debian's Installation Guide², under «2.1.2. CPU Support» section. I find the current CPU support section is too generic, that is, a bit «short» and unspecific; meaning, by its current redaction it cannot be easily known what CPUs are currently supported by Debian's kernel build options. Just something for you to consider. ¹https://developers.redhat.com/blog/2021/01/05/building-red-hat-enterprise-linux-9-for-the-x86-64-v2-microarchitecture-level ²https://www.debian.org/releases/trixie/amd64/ch02s01.en.html#id1571 Cheers, -- Camaleón
