Hello amazing contributors to the free world, Been a couple of years since I have done a debian install. Three minor issues with the current (20020813) install.en.pdf:
1. 'safe' in the context of the floppy images is not described. Further, it would be useful to have a reference back to "4.2.2 Choosing the Right Installation Set" in "11.2.3 Description of Installation System Files", particularly as related to http://www.debian.org/distrib/floppyinst 2. "3.7 Installing Debian GNU/Linux from a Unix/Linux System" seems out of place. I also think I understand the good reasons why it is there, but a counter argument is that in theory something could work on BSD, and not necessarily work on Debian GNU/Linux -- ie. see "3.8 Pre-Installation Hardware and Operating System Setup". It seems that this work best as an appendix with reference back to sections 1-3. Three point seven seems to end really leaving a non-Debian familiar person hanging. Is the next step to see the later steps in 8 or 9 or ... ? 3. I am surprised that '/boot' is not listed in 6 the "a list of important considerations regarding directories and partitions." Is mounting it read-only or better yet, not at all no longer a worth while activity to setup toward? All and all an excellent manual, best regards, Lloyd D Budd -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble? Contact [EMAIL PROTECTED]
