Leaving aside the cdebconf progress bar resize bug, if I were doing any number of installs over slow serial (more than 1..), I would switch d-i to use the cdebconf text frontend in my install media. Of course we don't currently ship any media with that frontend on them, but it should be an easy change, and make serial installs much more fun.
