I get everyday access through LinuxAnt's driverloader software, but this requires non-free nondistributable components and a paid license key. As such, I was installing a pure base system with no network connection. During install, I was presented automatically with a network configuration screen (I also have a perfectly usable but non-connected 10/100 card), which I had to go through with empty values because I had no working connection. After every subsequent installer segment, I was presented again with the network configuration screen, even though I had canceled it many times before. Ultimately, after "Install base system" completed, network configuration came up again, but would run endlessly. I'd complete it with empty values, it would do some 'modprobe' business, and it would start again. At this point I gave up and quit the installer. -- Joel Konkle-Parker --------------------------------------- Received: (at 226495-done) by bugs.debian.org; 4 Feb 2004 18:52:03 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed Feb 04 10:52:03 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from lns-th2-5f-81-56-227-253.adsl.proxad.net (kheops.homeunix.org) [81.56.227.253] by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1AoS82-0004Zm-00; Wed, 04 Feb 2004 10:52:03 -0800 Received: from localhost (localhost [127.0.0.1]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id DBEC24058 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 4 Feb 2004 19:51:31 +0100 (CET) Received: from kheops.homeunix.org ([127.0.0.1]) by localhost (kheops [127.0.0.1]) (amavisd-new, port 10024) with ESMTP id 01209-05 for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 4 Feb 2004 19:51:26 +0100 (CET) Received: from mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org [192.168.1.3]) by kheops.homeunix.org (Postfix) with ESMTP id 05D90405A for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Wed, 4 Feb 2004 19:51:23 +0100 (CET) Received: by mykerinos.kheops.frmug.org (Postfix, from userid 7426) id 2BF1DD06E; Wed, 4 Feb 2004 18:42:27 +0100 (CET) Date: Wed, 4 Feb 2004 18:42:27 +0100 From: Christian Perrier <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Installation report categorized Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-15 Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit X-message-flag: Outlook is a good virus spreading tool. I will here assume that you are using the "netinst" CD. If you weren't, then this bug is not a bug as this is of course the only CD which can complete a base system installation without network access. (not completely sure of this, however) Can you please confirm which ISO image you were using ? Up to now, I will just clone this report to a bug assigned to "debian-installer" with "allow skipping network configuration". -- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
