Subject: installation-reports: OldWorld PowerMac install (sarge) dies trying to install bootloader
On OldWorld PowerPC Macs the yaboot bootloader doesn't work.
Without resorting to "expert" mode ("DEBCONF_PRIORITY=medium" or better) there is no way to prevent the d-i from trying to install yaboot.
The installer should automatically recognize the OldWorld subarchitecture and do the equivalent of "continue without... bootloader".
The current workaround is to do a ...PRIORITY=medium install and specify "continue without..." immediately after partitioning and formatting the disk, and before it attempts to install yaboot.
This works, if you remember to do it, but the main menu doesn't help. As currently configured, the "continue without..." option is mis-placed in the main menu *after* the step that attempts to install yaboot -- i.e. too late to do any good.
