Hello, I have been helping a friend install a debian sarge system with the new beta 4 installer and have come across a strange problem. The system installed perfectly. The first time it rebooted, it just kept rebooting. I instructed him to manually partition the system with a small boot partition first and reinstall the system. This worked fine. The problem is that the system works and can contact the outside world and can ping things etc. When another machine on its local network tries to ping it or contact it in any way it just times out. I can see the icmp echo req's coming into the debian box but it does not reply. It is a default install with no manipulations at the moment. There are no firewall rules and the machine can ping other machines. Has anyone come across this problem? Is there more information I can provide that will help? Have I completely missed something obvious. Thanks Alex
