Comments/Problems:

I tried to resize the /dev/hda5 (ext3) partition I was prompted to save
the partition table and said yes,
then I endered a lower size and after a sound from the hard disk I was
taken back to the edit partion table dialog.
I retried this with different sizes from 10Gb to 20Gb.

Then after deciding to format /dev/hda5 and mount it as root I was
warned that my partition table had errors and this I should
return to fix them, I returned but was unable to fix the error (as I was
unsure what it was) and continued on with the intall
against the advice of the error messages. The install seems to work.

There was also a problem later after the reboot, as packages from
ftp.uk.debian.org via FTP were not working so I got them via HTTP.

I chose aptitiude as the package manager and then chaged my mind,
when I exited (by pressing q) the packages I had selected were installed
and setup I was then droped to a prompt,
I had expected no packages to be installed and to be presented with the
dialog showing the package manager choices again.
