Booted OK. In "Tee verkkoasetukset" (network configuration), there are strange middle-dot characters between words. There are missing whitespace between certain words in the "Valitse peilikopio" (choose mirror) screen. The translation "Valitse peilikopio", BTW, sounds strange; it's literally "choose a copy of the mirror". After partitioning and creating file systems, the installer screen is empty for quite a long time, which made me wonder if it had hanged (it hadn't). During "Asennetaan perusj=E4rjestelm=E4=E4" (install base system), visual feedback on progress is lacking. The progress bar is updated with too long intervals. In "J=E4rjestelm=E4n uudelleenk=E4ynnistys" (system reboot), I am advised about a custom boot floppy. Since I was never offered creating one, it sound strange and confusing. After reboot, Starting MTA takes a looooong time. There were some error messages about keymaps, but they went by too quickly to be read. I am asked about my keyboard again (should reuse the pre-reboot choice), I get the error message again, and I later discover I still have the US keyboard layout although I chose "Finnish" (and it worked pre-reboot). I am asked about my timezone. Could reuse the pre-boot locale choices? Helsinki is filed under "Intian valtameri", not "Europe" (and "Europe" lists eg Adelaide). After creating the user, I get the menu. I try to manually select setting up apt, but I get the following message: /usr/sbn/base-config:: line 138: ./menu/n: tiedostoa tai hakemistoa ei ole (that's "no such file or directory"). I log in at another VC, run apt-get update and then try selecting the next menu option, select packages to install or some such. The installer appears to freeze and I lose my patience; I type shutdown -h now in the other VC, and during shutdown, I see the installer was not frozen, but I no longer could abort shutdown. I stopped here and went to bed. Overall, looks very good even though there are lots of minor problems. --=20 Antti-Juhani Kaijanaho, Debian developer http://www.iki.fi/gaia/ --Nq2Wo0NMKNjxTN9z Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: Digital signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFABRp8HsI32VNFhOgRAheKAJ4/J2akW+QgQEJGWfUW8y7NNglBwwCfYoga v+jnMa1iB78Kkbg1DshZDzI= =jbRf -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --Nq2Wo0NMKNjxTN9z-- --------------------------------------- Received: (at 227684-done) by bugs.debian.org; 11 Jun 2004 20:33:45 +0000 >From [EMAIL PROTECTED] Fri Jun 11 13:33:44 2004 Return-path: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Received: from kitenet.net [64.62.161.42] (postfix) by spohr.debian.org with esmtp (Exim 3.35 1 (Debian)) id 1BYsiP-0000tR-00; Fri, 11 Jun 2004 13:33:29 -0700 Received: from dragon.kitenet.net (216-98-91-136.access.naxs.com [216.98.91.136]) (using TLSv1 with cipher DHE-RSA-AES256-SHA (256/256 bits)) (Client CN "Joey Hess", Issuer "Joey Hess" (verified OK)) by kitenet.net (Postfix) with ESMTP id D10AC1820C for <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>; Fri, 11 Jun 2004 20:33:22 +0000 (GMT) Received: by dragon.kitenet.net (Postfix, from userid 1000) id 29EC36EC36; Fri, 11 Jun 2004 16:32:40 -0400 (EDT) Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2004 16:32:40 -0400 From: Joey Hess <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: processing report Message-ID: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/signed; micalg=pgp-sha1; protocol="application/pgp-signature"; boundary="opJtzjQTFsWo+cga" Content-Disposition: inline User-Agent: Mutt/1.5.6+20040523i Delivered-To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] X-Spam-Checker-Version: SpamAssassin 2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 (1.212-2003-09-23-exp) on spohr.debian.org X-Spam-Status: No, hits=-3.0 required=4.0 tests=BAYES_00 autolearn=no version=2.60-bugs.debian.org_2004_03_25 X-Spam-Level: --opJtzjQTFsWo+cga Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable I'm processing old installation reports, and have, finally, gotten to yours. Thanks for talking the time to file an installation report. I'm closing your installation report, after determining that: - Some problems you reported are no longer present in current versions of t= he installer. - Some problems you reported are known, and have existing bugs in the BTS. - Your report mentions some strange problems that seem unlikely to be present in current versions of the installer. If you can, please try installing again using a current version of the debian installer. I recommend the tc1 release, which you can find on our web page, <http://www.debian.org/devel/debian-installer/>. If you can, try to reproduce the problems you reported using it, so we can verify that they're all fixed. We look forward to your new installation report. --=20 see shy jo --opJtzjQTFsWo+cga Content-Type: application/pgp-signature; name="signature.asc" Content-Description: Digital signature Content-Disposition: inline -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.2.4 (GNU/Linux) iD8DBQFAyhbnd8HHehbQuO8RAltxAJ0UE6IgZ2sRfmsFIQDDKUtTUkC+rQCgl0Yr UeJETyEq8EzIiFc3zvs2G3Y= =xlti -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- --opJtzjQTFsWo+cga-- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
