Note that d-i rc2 is not yet released, I assume you used pre-rc2. You don't say what CD image you used. > was only offered a choice of kernel image 2.4.27-1-386 or kernel-image > 2.6.8-1-386. apparently did not appropriately detect > multiple cpus. This is normal if you're using the netinst iso. That's a 110 mb CD image. Including a full set of optimised kerels for i386 would make it a 300+ mb cd image.. If you use the businesscard or full CD, you'll get an optimised kernel. > only recognized one of two ATAPI cd-rom drives > /dev/hdc /media/cdrom0 iso9660 ro,user, noauto 0 0 > /dev/hdd /media/cdrom1 iso9660 ro,user, noauto 0 0 > > ls -l media > lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 6 2004-10-02 15:21 cdrom -> cdrom0 > lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 7 2004-10-02 15:21 floppy -> floppy0 > drwxr-xr-x 2 root root 1024 2004-10-02 15:21 floppy0 So the problem is a lack of a cdrom1 mount point? This is probably the discover1 bug mentioned in the errata, since it seems the installer _did_ see both CD drives to add them to fstab. See the errata for a fix. -- see shy jo
