And I do appricate that.
Infact, "Paul Telford messages" have high priority for me
when I'm scanning debian-boot.

I'm also scared for the netcfg code :D
My idea/proposal for a workaround is

  wget http://installserver/path/to/hostname/interfaces \
   -O /etc/network/interfaces


before the reboot.
