OK. I'll try it without "expert" the next time I test the installer. <SNIP> > > > Mmm, interresting. > > > The rare case of upgrading a Debian system by a re-install. > > > (the usual way to get from Debian Sarge to Debian Etch is > > > editting /etc/apt/sources.list and then > > > apt-get update > > > apt-get dist-upgrade > > > ) > > > > It didn't occur to me to try exactly that. OK, I did what you suggested, and it worked. I was able to reproduce the problem with loading multiple ISA-PNP driver modules with the 2.6.15 kernel image. I'll start work on a new bug report for that package. > > I've tested the floppies, and found a solid bug. It is the place where I > saw this bugreport. OK, I'll restate it. In this bug report I'm testing the debian-installer boot floppy set, using the daily builds. The failure I identified is that the installer deletes the kernel after it installs it. The kernel does not re-appear anywhere else in the /target tree. I speculated that the reason for the error might be that the daily builds did not include a boot.img floppy, and the root.img and net-drivers.img that were provided might not be compatible with the Etch RC2 boot.img. Until that question can be answered, or there is a daily build that includes all the required floppy images, it doesn't seem useful to continue testing with floppies. > Installing (multiple) Ethernet drivers is worth a new E-mail thread. I'll file a separate bug report for that. I should probably burn an Etch CD first, so I can do a pristine Etch install, just to make sure leftovers from Sarge aren't causing the problem. This one is pretty subtle. > > > Please provide the output of > > > > > > fdisk -l /dev/hda > > > > I'll get you that in the next message, after the install finishes. > > > Does that mean that when we see the partition table, > you have a finished install? Yes, but it's the Sarge re-install. I sent the partition table last night. You should have it now. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
