And that is the cause of the problem. I suspect that the cause is just a minor error recognizing the CD, which happens quite often with older machines. Trying a reinstallation may fix it, especially as there were no problems using the CD during base installation. If you can reproduce the error, try adding a 'set -x' line in /usr/lib/apt-setop/generators/50cdrom before running apt-setup.
