Can you try booting the installer with 'installgui
DEBIAN_FRONTEND=newt', switch to VT2 when the first dialog comes up

- cat /proc/bus/input/devices
- ls -l /dev/input
- dfbinfo
Here's the output:

Hope this helps.
This may be a bug in the input handling subsystem of DFB, we already
had a lot of preoblems with it in the past we fixed.
In order to detect what's the input peripheral that causes DFB to
crash, could you please try unplugging the numeric keypad and the
wireless mouse receiver and see if the graphical installer still
crashes?
If the installer should still crash, is there a way to disable from
bios the trackpoint and test again ?
thanks
Attilio
I did as you asked and found the culprit. It's the external keypad: a
Dynex Model No.: DX-NBKP20. $5.99 at BestBuy. It takes very little
money to get into a lot of trouble.
:)
Better the keypad than the mice -- I'd think there would be
comparatively fewer of these keypads in use. Thanks for the sleuthing
and for making etch such a great release.
I'm really happy this bug was workarounded.
Frans, can i proceed closing this bug or you want this bug to be renamed
and ket open to be listed in the errata list or in the GUI post Etch TODO?
