I have installed quite often over a serial line without real problems. It certainly did not get progressively slower. Did you try the network-console option? That allows to continue the installation over SSH after the network has been set up. > Configure network: [should be auto-DHCP but no success] Problems getting a DHCP lease have in the past always proven to be a local network configuration issue.
