Hmm. I don't know. I can't actually find any printer models directly from foomatic's database. If I remove all ppd packages, all I am left with are the built-in CUPS ppd's. I can't find anything in the code either that looks in foomatic's database. The only thing I can find is a search interface which connects directly to openprinting.org. So maybe it can't read foomatic's database after all. foomatic-gui can read the foomatic database (I assume, I can't get it to start now), but it's not included anymore.
