Package: qemu
Version: 0.6.1-1
Severity: important

I'm using qemu with network in pci mode (in isa mode, it runs
perfectly, option -isa) with tun support.

I've tried differents OS (debian woody, damn small linux, freebsd),
the network card is recognized as a NE2000 compatible card, module
load perfecty and there is no problems to configure the network card
(ifconfig).
But i when i try to ping my machine from qemu, ie ip of tun0, there is
no response. Tcpdump on tun0 show that we receive packets from qemu
network but qemu network receive nothing...

I finally have found the problem, after downloading sources (0.6.1, same
version) from qemu website, i try to use vgabios and pcbios from
the sources and it works fine. It appears that some roms and bios
files from qemu source are different from their "equivalent" in
qemu debian package.

Using diff this files are different (in /usr/share/qemu) :
- ppc_rom.bin
- proll.bin

and :
- vgabios.bin :
 (symlink /usr/share/qemu/vgabios.bin to /usr/share/vgabios/vgabios.bin)
- vgabios-cirrus.bin
 (symlink /usr/share/qemu/vgabios-cirrus.bin to
/usr/share/vgabios/vgabios.cirrus.bin)

vgabios.bin and vgabios.cirrus.bin are provided by another package :
vgabios

and:
 - bios.bin
  (symlink /usr/share/qemu/bios.bin to /usr/share/bochs/BIOS-bochs-latest )

bios.bin is provided by package bochsbios

i've tested each file and it appears that's the file bios.bin (from bochsbios
package) is the source of the bug, it's not the same than in qemu
 sources (like some others : ppc_rom.bin, proll.bin, vgabios-cirrus.bin,
vgabios.bin, possible author of qemu modified them ??? better to use
the files from qemu sources or continue using links to other packages
 (vgabios and biosbochs), i dont't know ??)

i've always see that a bugreport like this was open in biosbochs
package but i "think" that the problem should be resolved in qemu ? no
 ?
