Subject: lprngtool: smbprint looks for '.config' file, and now its name is

Package: lprngtool
Version: 1.3.2-5
Severity: Important
I configured a remote smb printer from lprngtool,
and didn't work. That was a problem with the smbprint script.
Some comments:
- The smbprint script is using a .config file for user, password, etc.
- lprngtool is creating a default file named auth, which is different to the
previous one.
- Variable 'username' stored in the auth file (.config) is not compatible with
the 'user' expected in the smbprint script.
- New samba provides smbspool to send jobs to an smb printer.
Perhaps it is needed to make a rewriting of smbprint, just to make it nicer.
smbspool admits title (name of the file to be printed), number of copies,
etc, which are'n used by smbprint, yet.
Here are my changes to smbprint. Take in account that my auth file has
new fields (which leads to modify lprngtool, as well):
# diff smbprint smbprint.orig
51c51
< config_file=$spool_dir/auth
---
> config_file=$spool_dir/.config
80,82c80
< #echo "$share $password $translate $x_command" > /tmp/smbprint.log
<
< cat | /usr/bin/smbspool
"smb://$username:[EMAIL PROTECTED]/$server/$printer" 1 1 filename 1 0 >
/dev/null
---
> #echo $share $password $translate $x_command > /tmp/smbprint.log
83a82,84
> cat | /usr/bin/smbclient "$share" "$password" -E ${hostip:+-I} \
> $hostip -N -P $usercmd "$user" $workgroupcmd "$workgroup" \
> -c "$command" 2>/dev/null
The 'auth' file:
workgroup=theworkgroupname
server=theservername
printer=hp
username=guest
password=secret

The lprngtool package has been removed from Debian because it is
"orphaned, buggy, nearly dead upstream". See #244768 for more
information.
