Package: guessnet
Version: 0.33-1
Severity: important

Dear Maintainer!

I wanted to use guessnet but found that in ifupdownmode it is not
accepting any candidates.

If I have the following guessnet.conf file:
--------------- 8< -----------------
foobar peer a.b.c.d xx.yy.zz.aa.bb.cc e.f.g.h
--------------- 8< -----------------
and I call guessnet
        guessnet -v -C guessnet.conf
I get:
guessnet: 1 candidate profiles
guessnet: Starting test subsystem
guessnet: Sending 10 ARP probes, 1 every second...
foobar

But then I put this into the interfaces:
mapping eth0
        script guessnet-ifupdown
        map foobar
        map timeout: 3
        map debug: 1
        map verbose: true

iface foobar inet static
        address e.f.g.h
        netmask 255.255.255.0
        gateway a.b.c.d
        dns-search .....
        dns-nameserver .....
        test peer a.b.c.d xx.yy.zz.aa.bb.cc e.f.g.h

and I call
        guessnet-ifupdown -v
it awaits an input, pressing Ctrl-D I get:
        guessnet: 0 candidate profiles
        No candidates provided: skipping detection
        none
If I make
        cat interfaces | guessnet-ifupdown -v
I get the same. With --debug:
guessnet: 0 candidates found in input
        guessnet: Guessnet 0.33 starting...
        guessnet: Trying MII detection
        guessnet: 0 candidate profiles
        guessnet: Trying MII detection
        guessnet: Initialized test subsystems
        guessnet: Added "default" test none
        guessnet: Default test is none
        guessnet: Started tests
        No candidates provided: skipping detection
        none
I also tried using
        peer a.b.c.d mac xx.yy.zz.aa.bb.cc source e.f.g.h
etc, but with the same effect.

I also tried to give guessnet-ifupdown the virtual interface name on the
input, with no effect.

Thanks a lot for any hints wether I did something wrong or there is a
bug.

One comment: It is unclear from the manpage wether the peer test
contains the keywords `mac' and `source'. In the guessnet mode ther are
no keywords besides peer, in the interface mode there are. In the
Descripition of the supported tests there are the keywords, too. But the
only way I got it to see the right interface was without keywords.
Strange.

 guessnet (0.35-1) unstable; urgency=low

   * Allows any amount of whitespace in /etc/network/interfaces between "test"

   * Complains if a line starts with "test(-|\s)" but it cannot be parsed by
