Please consider renaming the installed executable. The name 'gpp' confuses
autoconf
scripts; they think it is an alias for g++. Thus for example pgadmin3 FTBFS
when
gpp is installed.

I won't rename gpp. That is what upstream named it and that is what
people that use it expect it to be called. Further... This is a tool
usually used during compilation, renameing it will break any build
script/makefile that uses it.
Autoconf will only belive that gpp is a c++ compiler if g++ is not
installed. Packages that need g++ will FTBFS anyway. If g++ and gpp are
installed packages won't FTBFS.
There is no other 'gpp' binary in the Debian archive. At least not in
/usr/bin, /usr/sbin, /bin and /sbin.
