Package: makedev
Version: 2.3.1-75
Severity: normal

The MAKEDEV tool doesn't know how to build /dev/ttyUSB? devices, or
/dev/ttyACM? devices.

# cd /dev/
/dev# ./MAKEDEV /dev/ttyACM1
./MAKEDEV: don't know how to make device "/dev/ttyACM1"
/dev# ./MAKEDEV /dev/ttyUSB3
./MAKEDEV: don't know how to make device "/dev/ttyUSB3"

It would also be beneficial for these devices to be created
automatically when the makedev package is upgraded.

The makedev package happily creates the ttyUSB and ttyACM devices when called
with '/sbin/MAKEDEV usb'.

I'm not inclined to add more target granularity to the current version, and it
will come for free when we switch to the table-driven version after sarge, so
I'm closing this bug with no action taken.
