Due to an suboptimal function called find_updated_plugs,
configuration and postinstall of package nessus-plugins take
several minutes on my not so old PIII-700.
Here is a version which take less than one second :
find_updated_plugs () {
DIST_PLIST=`mktemp` || return 1
ORIG_PLIST=`mktemp` || return 1
cat $NESSUSPLIST | sort > $DIST_PLIST
find $PLUGINDIR -maxdepth 1 -type f | sort > $ORIG_PLIST
comm -13 $DIST_PLIST $ORIG_PLIST
rm -f $ORIG_PLIST $DIST_PLIST > /dev/null
return 0
}
This uses the comm command from GNU textutils, actually comm -13
will output what is in $DIST_PLIST and not in $ORIG_PLIST.
I'm sorry to not have the time to make a real patch...
Also, you should treat the error in case mktemp fails.
And of course don't forget to test it, but at least you have the idea.
Best regards,
Gael.
