Package: xscreensaver
Version: 4.16-1
Severity: important
Under KDE's Configure Desktop, in the Screensaver tab, XScreenSaver is
listed amont the available screensavers. However, selecting it will not
produce a windowed preview, nor will it perform a fullscreen preview
when the Test button is pressed.
The Setup button however enables these previews.
In both cases though, the xscreensaver daemon is NEVER started, nor is
the user prompted to start one. As a result, the screensaver never kicks
in, however KDE will blank the screen
Runnin xscreensaver-demo by hand for example, will prompt the user,
start the daemon if needed, and things will work as expected.
I suspect some mishap in the .kss file but haven't looked too hard,
yet...

The recent 4.20 package follows upstream and thus removes the
xscreensaver.kss from the package.
