When I start modconf it displays four "segmentation fault" warnings :

Those warnings are displayed at the beginning, before the interface is
displayed.

Indeed it is no more reproducible. Since then whiptail has been
upgraded (0.52.2-7 -> 0.52.2-8), so the problem may have been there.
