Package: libgphoto2-2
Version: 2.2.1-10

Hi folks,

According to the README it should be sufficient to be a
member of group "plugdev" to access the camera. But this
does not work. lsusb says:

$ lsusb | sort
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 05e3:0702 Genesys Logic, Inc. USB 2.0 IDE Adapter
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 0424:2502 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 004: ID 07cc:0301 Carry Computer Eng., Co., Ltd 6-in-1 Card
Reader
Bus 001 Device 005: ID 0ace:1211 ZyDAS 802.11b/g USB2 WiFi
Bus 001 Device 006: ID 0424:2602 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 007: ID 0424:2228 Standard Microsystems Corp.
Bus 001 Device 010: ID 04a9:3125 Canon, Inc.
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 0000:0000
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 0000:0000

Obviously 010 is the device id of the camera. The appropriate
device entry is

$ ls -al /dev/bus/usb/001/010
crw-rw-r-- 1 root root 189, 9 Nov 19 17:23 /dev/bus/usb/001/010

Using root there is no problem to access the camera,
so I would assume that there is a problem with the
udev stuff setting the access permissions. Maybe you
could check with the udev folks?

Kernel is 2.6.18. Camera is a Canon Powershot G7
(USB id 04a9:3125).

Regards

Harri
