When testing highlight with piuparts, I get the following error:

This happens when testing an upgrade from sarge to etch to sid: the
package is installed into a minimal sarge chroot, then the whole chroot
is upgraded to etch, and then to sid, and finally the package is removed
and then purged from the chroot.
What seems to happen is that the version in etch has two conffiles that
no longer exist in the sid version. In this situation, dpkg does not
delete the files (see #330256, for example), and as a result, maintainer
scripts need to deal with this manually. I would suggest adding a few
lines to postrm that remove the two files when the package is purged. If
the existence of those files are problematic for the operation of the
program, you might instead want to remove them when the package is
upgraded, in postinst.
