rrdtool restore fails to restore files created by the same version of rrdtool dump. If you create an rrd as given by the example below taken from the manpage then dump it and attempt to restore it you are given the error below.

rrdtool create monitor.rrd --step 300        \
  DS:ifOutOctets:COUNTER:1800:0:4294967295   \
  RRA:AVERAGE:0.5:1:2016                     \
  RRA:HWPREDICT:1440:0.1:0.0035:288

rrdtool restore -r dump.xml monitor.rrd
ERROR: Can only restore version >= 2 (Not ). Dump your old rrd using a current rrdtool dump.
