Package: lvm-common
Version: 666:1.4
Severity: wishlist
File: /sbin/lvmiopversion
It would be nice if the specification for source and destination could
be a bit more loose.
Examples:
1) pvmove -n /dev/vg1/lv1:1-10 source:101-110 dest:201-210
The lv and the source specify what data to move. Thats twice the
information needed and might even be contradicting.
Consider the case where lv1 resides on source in reverse order. The
/dev/vg1/lv1:1-10 says copy them in order but source:101-110 says keep
them in reverse order.
Eigther -n LV or source should suffice but a combination should be
allowed.
Also when specifying ranges eigther end should be optional:
- source:101- would move PE 101 and onwards till the end of the PV.
- source:-110 would move everything before (including) 110.
- dest:201- would start at 201 and continue till all data is moved.
- dest:-210 would move the data so that it ends at 210.
Also I think gaps are not allowed in ranges. So if 1-10 and 20-30 is
used by an LV you can't just move 1-30 but must move 1-10 and 20-30
seperatly.

PS: Does source:100-1 dest:1-100 reverse the order of the LEs?

lvm version 1 has been removed from Debian etch and unstable.
Please migrate to version 2 (package lvm2). If the bug you reported
against lvm10 still exists in lvm2, please open a new bug or let me
know. Thanks.
