Package: lvm-common
Version: 666:1.4
Severity: normal
File: /sbin/lvmiopversion

I tried to resize a volume and though it would still be umounted since
its last fsck (so I used the -n option):

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/mnt# e2fsadm -n -v -l +129 /dev/grp/unseen
e2fsadm -- checking logical volume name
e2fsadm -- checking existance of logical volume /dev/grp/unseen
e2fsadm -- checking for relative/absolute size change
e2fsadm -- reading VGDA of volume group "grp" from lvmtab
e2fsadm -- calculating absolute logical volume size
e2fsadm -- checking size modulo PE size
e2fsadm -- extending logical volume size
lvextend -- extending logical volume "/dev/grp/unseen" to 310.34 GB
lvextend -- doing automatic backup of volume group "grp"
lvextend -- logical volume "/dev/grp/unseen" successfully extended

e2fsadm -- resizing filesystem (this can take a while)
resize2fs 1.30-WIP (30-Sep-2002)
Please run 'e2fsck -f /dev/grp/unseen' first.

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/mnt# e2fsadm -v -l +129 /dev/grp/unseen
e2fsadm -- checking logical volume name
e2fsadm -- checking existance of logical volume /dev/grp/unseen
e2fsadm -- checking for relative/absolute size change
e2fsadm -- reading VGDA of volume group "grp" from lvmtab
e2fsadm -- calculating absolute logical volume size
e2fsadm -- new size too large for "grp"
e2fsadm -- size of "/dev/grp/unseen" would be invalid

[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/mnt#

Now the filesystem and volume are different sizes. e2fsadm should
reduce the volume when the resize fails or check beforehand if resize
is possible.

lvm version 1 has been removed from Debian etch and unstable.
Please migrate to version 2 (package lvm2). If the bug you reported
against lvm10 still exists in lvm2, please open a new bug or let me
know. Thanks.
