Package: libsane
Version: 1.0.18-3

Hello,

I have installed Debian Etch today (09-dec-2006) and updated the system after
installation. I use kernel 2.6.18-3-k7.
I have an Epson Stylus CX5400 scanner that works well in Ubuntu Dapper, but
doesn't work in Ubuntu Edgy or Debian Etch. In Ubuntu Edgy I can make it work
installing libsane_1.0.17-1ubuntu4_i386.

Here is what I obtain running this commands:

desktop:/home/dragos# sane-find-scanner

  # sane-find-scanner will now attempt to detect your scanner. If the
  # result is different from what you expected, first make sure your
  # scanner is powered up and properly connected to your computer.

  # No SCSI scanners found. If you expected something different, make sure that
  # you have loaded a kernel SCSI driver for your SCSI adapter.
  # Also you need support for SCSI Generic (sg) in your operating system.
  # If using Linux, try "modprobe sg".

found USB scanner (vendor=0x04b8 [EPSON], product=0x0808 [USB MFP]) at
libusb:002:003
  # Your USB scanner was (probably) detected. It may or may not be supported by
  # SANE. Try scanimage -L and read the backend's manpage.

  # Not checking for parallel port scanners.

  # Most Scanners connected to the parallel port or other proprietary ports
  # can't be detected by this program.
desktop:/home/dragos# scanimage -L

No scanners were identified. If you were expecting something different,
check that the scanner is plugged in, turned on and detected by the
sane-find-scanner tool (if appropriate). Please read the documentation
which came with this software (README, FAQ, manpages).
desktop:/home/dragos#

Please let me know if you need other information. If so, please write to me the
exact commands I should type in order to provide you the necessary information.
Thank you!
