When I do :
LANG=C make-kpkg clean
I get:

/usr/share/kernel-package/ruleset/misc/version_vars.mk:55: *** missing `endif'.
Stop.
I expected not to get a syntax error and to have the operation complete
successfully.

Given that this bug is unreproducible, and that four newer
versions have since been released, with no one else reporting any
errors like this, I am closing this bug report.
If the problem recurs with the new versions, please open a
fresh bug report with logs of the error, and any steps on how to
reproduce it.
