Do not over-inflate bugs, please. Especially when the software is doing
exactly what you told it to. You disturbed a release manager needlessly.
Even if the software missclassified anything, in a "throw this away if you
find it" configuration, that is certainly NOT a data-loss bug. YOUR
configuration is a data-loss one, and the missclassification is just a
normal or important bug.
Now, if you had told amavisd-new to D_PASS or D_REJECT something and it
discarded it instead, or if you had told amavisd-new to quarantine something
and it didn't and still discarded the message, then yes, THAT would have
been a grave bug indeed.
Also, the default configuration for Debian does not discard data.

Headers must have only a strict subset of ASCII characters, and none of them
have the eigth bit set, refer to RFC-2822 for the internet mail message
standard. The headers are invalid, and amavisd-new did its job correctly.
Tell Yahoo to fix their broken software. More than likely, you will find
that, like the most of us (myself included), you will need to tolerate
rubish going through your internet email system or you will just block too
much quasi-email.
I am closing this bug report, there is no bug.
