--- Begin Message ---Package: nautilus Version: 2.12.2-2 Severity: normal I just tried connecting to an smb share (from the "Places/Connect to Server" panel menu), and this all seems to work fine: it seemed to support smb ("windows share", but ok), I could enter all my data, and a nice icon was created on my desktop. So far, so good. However, when clicking this icon, gnome/nautilus gave the incredibly non-helpful error message popup "could not connect to share X" (or something like that). It didn't say whether it couldn't find the server, whether the share didn't exist or is maybe my username/password was wrong. It turned out that I didn't have gnome-vfs-extras installed, which apparently includes the samba support.
