Package: nginx
Version: 0.5.12-2
Severity: normal

My installation of nginx is currently not activated, so the server is not
running.
This should not prevent me from upgrading, but currently it does (details
below).
It also should not prevent normal removal of the package, but it does.

Right. This is solved in 0.5.13-1 (now in Sid) and only affects people in Sid which installed the (faulty) 0.5.12-2 package. The to-be-released version of nginx doesn't suffer of this problem.

In order to "unblock" nginx of this unusable state, please edit /var/lib/dpkg/info/nginx.prerm. Particularly, avoid any requests for invoke-rc.d or /etc/init.d to stop nginx (if you delete the whole script and just leave an "exit 0" instruction it will do)

Thank you very much for your attention to details,
Jose
